Meet Roni! 💙
Roni is a handsome 1-year-old, 41-pound Lab mix with a beautiful grayish coat and a sweet, gentle soul. When he first arrived at his temporary foster, he was extremely timid and scared, but he is settling in beautifully and making progress every day. His tail even wagged for the first time recently! 🥹
Roni is an angel with people and is especially loving once he feels comfortable. He can be very timid around tall men and even becomes nervous when passing them on the road. It may take a little while to warm up to men as he is cautious. We suspect he may have some difficult memories from his past and will need someone patient and understanding.
He plays very nicely with two older female dogs in the home. He is less respectful with a younger male foster, so we are still learning whether that's simply a male-to-male dynamic or because they are the same age. He has met the family’s other pets and is shy but interested. He has done wonderfully with the cat, who absolutely adores him and follows him everywhere!
Roni is not a chewer, enjoys roaming around, and is doing well settling into a home. He was terrified of the bathtub at first but quickly discovered that he actually enjoys getting a shower. ❤️
His biggest challenge is being left alone behind a closed door. He becomes very stressed and will bark in a high-pitched voice when separated from people or dogs. He also absolutely refuses to go into a crate, even a large one, so a crate-free home would likely be best. He relaxes much more when he can be near his people.
Roni is looking for a patient home willing to let him build confidence at his own pace. He has already come so far, and with the right person, we believe this sweet boy will truly blossom. 🐾💙
