Russel has survived a lifetime of neglect and starvation—and he finally needs someone to show him what love feels like.
Russel was rescued with his bonded friend, the one companion who had survived all those years beside him. Then his friend passed away.
He is heartworm positive and needs time, medical care, good food, and—most of all—a safe person who will help him heal both his body and his broken spirit.
Because Russel was forced to survive without knowing when his next meal would come, he has some food aggression. It's understandable. It's survival.
For that reason, a home with no other dogs may be best. He can be around other dogs and is wonderful with people. Cats are unknown.
